I haven’t done one of these before so I thought why not start with the Goodreads Book Tag! I saw this a few weeks ago over at Hanging with Amanda and thought it looked pretty fun.

 

 

What was the last book you marked as ‘read’?

The Wave by Lochlan Bloom. Really well written and thought provoking, it’s one that will certainly give your brain a workout. You can see my review here.

 

When μ returns home to find a sinister screenplay has arrived from Brazil it propels him on a quest to track down a character he believes to be called Ddunsel.

As μ’s search progresses it slowly becomes entangled with two parallel tales – the stories of DOWN, a troubled publisher, and David Bohm, a real-life quantum theoretician in post-war São Paulo.

Just how far is it from London to Gotham City? Or from Paul Auster to Pierre Menard for that matter?  Some people may think these sorts of questions are idle and ultimately meaningless but this book is not for them.

The Wave combines multiple narratives to blend metafiction, historical fiction and screenplay as each of the characters struggles to understand what is reality and what is fiction.

 

What are you currently reading?

A few books actually…but the one I last set my eyes on is Paris Mon Amour by Isabel Costello, I’m not that far in yet so I won’t pass any judgement but the blurb certainly hooked me.

The first time I caused terrible harm to the people I love it was an accident. The second is the reason I’m here.

What was the last book you marked as TBR?

How to Find Love in a Bookshop by Veronica Henry. I’ve heard good things about this and most of the reviews are glowing, plus it’s about a bookshop.

 

Everyone has a story . . . but will they get the happy ending they deserve?

What book do you plan to read next?

Tricky question, I’ve got two on the cards The Deadline by Jackie Kabler and The Good Kind of Bad by Rita Brassington, both sound pretty good so it’s a hard toss up.

Do you use the star rating system?

Most definitely but I rate to my own system, I think it’s on par with the Goodreads system though.

 

Are you doing a 2016 reading challenge?

I am but I don’t think I’m going to manage it, I set it up about half way through the year and might have overreached a little as I went for 50 books and then I lowered it to 40. Still don’t think I’m going to make it.

 

Do you have a wish list?

On Amazon, it’s so big, it’s the TBR pile that I’m ignoring because it means I’ll spend all my money on books.

 

What book do you plan to buy next?

Midnight Soul by Kristen Ashley. I love this series and this is the last book in it. I’m really hoping that it’s a good conclusion and I’m looking forward to seeing what happens with Noc and Franka.

 

Against his will, Noctorno Hawthorne, an undercover vice cop, finds himself embroiled in magic, mayhem and parallel universes. Too late, he meets an amazing woman only to find she’s destined for his identical twin in another world.

And things aren’t going real great there.

Noc is recruited to help save that world.

Franka Drakkar wears a mask. A mask she never takes off to protect herself in a world of malice, intrigue and danger.

When Franka meets Noc and he discovers her secrets, convinced she carries a midnight soul, having shielded herself from forming bonds with anyone, she struggles with accepting his tenderness and care.

When Noc meets Franka, over wine and whiskey, her masks slips and Noc knows it’s her—only her—and he has to find a way to get her to come home with him.

And then make her want to stay.

Who are your favorite authors?

That is a difficult one!! David Baldacci, Kristen Ashley, Cassandra Clare, Catherine Bybee, Siri Hustvedt are the most prominent but there are others.

Yes I joined Top 5 Wednesday and The Book Vipers. I haven’t contributed much yet but I am hoping too.
