Top Ten Tuesday

Top Ten Tuesday is an original blog meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish.

This week’s theme is: Ten Books I Loved Less/More Than I Thought I Would

So I’m going to split this down the middle and do five that I loved less than I thought I would and five that I loved more than I thought I would.

Books that I loved less than I thought I would

good-me-bad-me

Good Me, Bad Me by Ali Land

This book had a lot of hype and a lot of people loved it, but it didn’t work for me, I could still appreciate it but I was disappointed.

wild-and-free

Wild and Free by Kristen Ashley

This was the last in a series so I had really high hopes for it, unfortunately, it felt really rushed and fell short of the mark.

breakdown

The Breakdown by B.A. Paris

I’d read a lot of good things about her first novel but unfortunately, I managed to guess the outcome of this one really early on, so it kind of fell flat.

imaginary-girls

Imaginary Girls by Nova Ren Suma

Another book that I read a lot of good things about but when it came to it I felt it fell short of my expectation.

wings

Wings by Aprilynne Pike

I love a good faerie story, and so when I was given this as a gift one year I was quite excited at the prospect of finding a new series that I could sink my teeth into, boy was I wrong, I don’t think I even finished it.

Books that I loved more than I thought I would

paris

Paris Mon Amour by Isabel Costello

I thought I had an idea of what to expect from this book but it blew me away, a beautiful story.

marys-the-name

Mary’s the Name by Ross Sayers

I went through a range of emotions with this book and I loved it, an amazing debut.

good-enough-mother

The Good Enough Mother by Anoushka Beazley

This one I actually didn’t get into right away, so I put it down and picked it up a few days later. I’m so glad I did, very funny and insightful.

All the ugly

All The Ugly and Wonderful Things by Bryn Greenwood

I had the feeling that this would be a love it or hate it book but I loved it, a controversial yet beautiful story about love.

peoples-houses

The Smell of Other People’s Houses by Bonnie-Sue Hitchcock

This one hooked me on the first chapter, then I drifted a little but it soon pulled me back in. A wonderful about growing up, set in an amazing landscape.

  1. I heard a lot good thongd about B.A.Paris’ first book too. I could get that one but ended up with the one on your list- The breakdown. It’s still sitting in my shelf thought. Hopefully I’d enjoy it more.

  2. I have read none of these!! I have heard some good things about The Smell of Other People’s Houses, but that’s about it. I do really like the cover for wings as well 🙂 Good Me, Bad Me looks pretty interesting …

    1. Yeah it does, it was definitely a book that stayed with you for a while. After halfway I felt like I couldn’t put it down but in the end I was just left really disappointed, but I know that plenty of people still really liked it 🙂

    1. I don’t think everyone did, just for some reason it popped into my head really early on so it did kind of ruin it in that respect, the writing was still really good and if you enjoyed her first book you’d probably enjoy this. Sometimes its good to go in with low expectations too though, means you’ll probably like it more 🙂
