This month’s question is: When your writing life is a bit cloudy or filled with rain, what do you do to dig down and keep on writing?
I really struggle with this actually. I haven’t written anything in a while, maybe a little bit of flash fiction but nothing to any of my WIP’s. Sometimes I just get into this funk and I can’t quite get out of it, so I focus on other things, like reading or other creative things and then I know that I’ll come back to it eventually.
I wish I was able to push through but it’s just not in my nature and tends to make it worse as I start to dread going anywhere near my WIP’s if I’m forcing myself.

The important thing is to remind yourself, This will pass. I know how panicky you can feel wondering if you’ll ever get your motivation back. I usually just focus on my knitting for a while 😁

Yeah I’m hoping that taking my mind off the fact that I haven’t been writing will actually help me get the spark back 😊

Yes, go work on a non-writing project for a while! You’ll get back in the swing eventually 😁 that’s usually what I do- ignore it until it starts begging me to come back lol

I’ve been feeling that dread myself. I might just drag myself kicking and screaming through the first draft anyway. If it’s a total garbage-dump, I have another cool idea for a different novel.

I wish I could but I’d put myself off writing I think, it’s good you’ve got lots of ideas and you never know it may end up surprising you and being good 🙂

I think fallow periods happen to all writers–and they can make you panic that you’ll never write again. But if you look back on the past you’ll see, you always do!

That is very true, and makes me feel very optimistic 🙂

The dreaded funk. So much inspiration to get through it in this month’s IWSG though. I wish you all the best. 🙂 http://www.raimeygallant.com

It might help to just sit at the computer and start putting some words down stream of consciousness-style, with no expectations. That could break the ice, and maybe you will find a usable nugget on the page. Good luck to you.
