everywhere in 2018

I have to say that 2018 was a bit of a whirlwind, with a lot of great things but also plenty of utter crap, which makes it kind of hard to know how I feel about it overall. What I like about that little switch of a number is that it does really feel like a new page, blank and ready to be filled with something different to what has come before. I’m looking forward to that this year, that’s for sure, so in the spirit of this forward thinking I’m going to try to keep this look back short and sweet so I can concentrate on my goals for 2019.

So I have already done my best books for 2018, I had set myself a goal of 65 last year and managed to read 91, you can have a look at my top picks and how I got on here.

Here are the things that I enjoyed putting together for 2018…

I really enjoyed my A to Z challenge this year and whilst there were some that I liked more than others, my favourite post was the reflections post so I could see all the pictures in one place.

Even though I started my 100 day project in 2017 I only managed to finish it this year but I was really pleased with getting it finished.

I didn’t do as much writing this year as I would have liked but two of the flash fiction pieces that I was particularly pleased with were Romantic Notions and Noughts and Crosses.

Goals for 2019

So I will be upfront and say that I dive bombed on all of my goals for last year, there was just so much going on and I was pretty terrible at managing my own time, especially towards the end of the year. This year even though I could list all those goals again I’ll go for something a bit different

Don’t put pressure on myself – This happened toward the end of last year and I ended up kind of abandoning my little space for a while, this blogging thing is supposed to be fun and I was making the opposite by pressuring myself into posting too often. This year I’m going to have a think about how often I want to be posting and how I want to be managing my time and forgiving myself if I need a break.

Try to do something creative every week – I would love to say every day but I know that is totally unrealistic, like today I’m knackered and I know that when I get home from work all I’ll want to do is get back into bed with some food and a Netflix binge. So once a week at least I would like to do something creative because I definitely notice a difference in my mental health when I get myself into that zone.

Be a better blogger – So ok I’m kind of stealing one from last year, I had a few occasions where I didn’t manage to get a book read on time or nearly missed a post on a blog tour and any visiting or commenting on others blogs went pretty much out the window. So I’m hoping that at least once a week I can carve out some time for myself to sit down and get back in touch with everyone or make time to catch up on reading that I might be behind on.

Blog things to look forward to in 2019

So I’m hoping that this totally doesn’t contradict my first goal but here are some of the fun things that I’m going to or hoping to participate in this year…

Goodreads challenge – This year I am going to set myself 70 books, I’m hoping to concentrate on more than just reviews but hopefully I can still make this target.

Retellings Reading Challenge – I quite fancy this challenge because I love retellings and it has a pretty cool bingo card. If you want to find out more click here.

100 day project – After skipping this Instagram challenge last year I think I am going to give it a shot again this year, plus it will help towards my goals for this year. To find out more click here.

A to Z challenge – I think I’m going to go back to writing for this year’s challenge, I have a few ideas already but I’m keeping them under my hat in case I change my mind. To find out more click here.

I have to admit that after putting all this together I’m pretty excited for the year to come.

Do you have any exciting plans for your blog this year?
