I can’t believe we are half way through the year already, time is flying by and I still have so many books that I want to read. I have been enjoying seeing my reading patterns over the last couple of years, as a running theme I seem to be progressively reading less by this point in the year, I have only read 18 books so far but I have just hit a bit of a reading slump so I’ll put it down to that.

This year I was almost starting to be consistent after a slow start to the year and then the reading slump hit and now I have a lot of half read books waiting for me, so I’m hoping that that means my second half of the year will be a little stronger. I’m kind of surprised that the standalone/series graph is even only because I don’t usually see an even graph.

Another switch up adult books have been more popular for me this year, although it’s not quite as big a gap as last year, the MG is the same as it was at this point over the last two years, which I feel is maybe a sign that I am not going to pick them up but I’ll not rule it out yet. I have recently discovered my local library so have added a new option of borrowed, which will certainly help my bank balance, I am glad to see that my ARC bar is higher this year because I am trying to catch up with my Netgalley backlog.

For the first time the Ebook is not my preferred format, its nice to see that I am still managing to read fairly evenly across them though, I did think audiobook might have made it as the front runner because I have been favouring them recently. I am happy to see that backlist books is higher because that is always one of my goals to work through some of the books that have been in my TBR the longest.

In an unusual turn of events my usual genres are not the stand out ones this time around, I am glad to see that I still am managing to read with some variety though. My ratings are a bit more varied this year but I’m glad to see that above three stars are more prevalent because its always good to read books I enjoy.
Here in comparison are my StoryGraph stats, I like that they track slightly differently to me and that they keep an eye on my most read authors, so far this year it is Janice Hallett and Jenny Han.

I already have a good few contenders for my top ten of the year, but as we know things could always change…

I have a lot of good holiday reads on my list so there could be a bit of a shake up by the end of the year but I’m excited to find out.

Your analysis of your reading over the half-year is illuminating. It’s something we should all do. Do you belong to any book clubs, face-to-face or online? This impacts on my book choice a lot.
Interesting that you’re moving over from ebooks to paper-based books.
