One of my easy holiday reads, to help me out of a slump.

Temptation
Ivy Smoak
Shy student Penny Taylor always follows the rules. At least, thatโs how it appears to her classmates. But she has one illicit secret โ sheโs fallen hard for her professor. And sheโs pretty sure heโs fallen for her too.
Everyone loves Professor Hunter. Heโs tall, dark, and handsome. And completely unobtainable. But itโs the secrets hiding behind his deep brown eyes that allures Penny. Secrets darker than she could ever imagine.
James Hunter gave up his billionaire lifestyle in NYC last year to become a professor. The easiest new rule to follow: donโt fraternize with the students. Itโs easy to follow because heโs become quite the recluse in his new town โ the only way he knows how to keep his secrets buried.
But he never expected to be teaching such a beautiful student. He has to resist her. He needs to walk away. Penny deserves better than a man with his demons. But sheโs daring him to cross the line. And heโs never been one to resist temptation.

When I picked this book up I was looking for something that I didnโt need to really concentrate on to get me back into reading and I felt like this book was good for some entertainment and romance. If Iโm honest it wasnโt quite what I was hoping for.
The characters slightly annoyed me, Penny more than James, Penny spent most of the story unable to be honest with either of the two guys she found herself caught between but then acted as if honesty was the most important part of her relationship and would act out when someone hadnโt told her something, it was infuriating to say the least.
James was slightly more bearable except he had a bit of an anger problem that would come out of nowhere. I feel the author was maybe trying to go for commanding but it didnโt quite come off that way, it just made him feel like an arse. I have read books that manage to pull off an overbearing guy in a sexy way but this one didnโt have it, it felt more uncomfortable than sexy.
They also seemed to both be written to be constantly antagonistic which meant I found it difficult to believe any real chemistry between them. Which was weird because this book had many a steamy scene but to go from that to them interacting without that integral chemistry threw me off a lot.
I did read it all the way through because I wanted to see what the fallout would be from Pennyโs secret that she held onto the whole way through the book (again even though she made a huge deal about people keeping secrets from her). However, that reveal came at the very end of the story and its conclusion will be revealed in another book in the series which Iโm not sure Iโll be picking up.
