Love it when I find a new series to enjoy.

A Dawn Of Onyx
Kate Golden
Captured by a king of darkness. Forced to find the light within.
Arwen Valondale never expected to be the brave one, offering her life to save her brotherโs. Now sheโs been taken prisoner by the most dangerous kingdom on the continent, and made to use her rare magical abilities to heal the soldiers of the vicious Onyx King.
Arwen knows better than to face the ancient, wicked woods that surround the castle on her own, which means working with a fellow prisoner might be her only path to freedom. Unfortunately, heโs as infuriating as he is cunningโand seems to take twisted pleasure in playing on Arwenโs deepest fears.
But here in Onyx Kingdom, trust is a luxury she canโt afford.
To make it out of enemy territory, she’ll have to navigate back-stabbing royals, dark magic, and dangerous beasts. But untold power lies inside Arwen, dormant and waiting for a spark. If she can harness it, she just might be able to escape with her lifeโand hopefully, her heart.

I was in the mood for another book that I could completely lose myself in, one where I could explore a new world and knew that I would really enjoy it. I could tell that this fantasy romance would fit the bill, sometimes, I get that feeling about a book, and Iโm always happy when I prove myself right.
This book had me hooked; once I started, I really struggled to put it down. It had the perfect mix of adventure and intrigue, especially between Arwen and Kane.
I liked that Arwen is a little different; she has healing powers, and doesnโt really know why, but uses them to help her village as best she can and then uses them to get herself out of trouble too. I think there were a few occasions that I was maybe a little miffed at some of her decisions, but not in a terribly off-putting way.
Kane is a very mysterious character; he is a bit hot and cold with Arwen, but it just makes him more interesting. There are a lot of rumours about Kaneโs character, he has a bit of a reputation, and then there is who he actually is and it was fun trying to separate the two.
The romance hit the right note for me; there was a lot of chemistry between the characters, but they were keeping a certain distance from each other. It starts to become something more toward the end of the book, but then there are other revelations that cause tension.
Iโm very interested to see how this plays out as the series continues, especially because of what we find out at the end of the story. Iโm so looking forward to the next book already.
