Finally catching up on some reading and this one was perfect for the season.

Be Our Ghost
Carla Luna
The only thing scarier than ghosts is falling in love.
Knox McIntyre has mastered the art of avoiding drama, especially the romantic kind. Ever since his screenwriting career went up in flames, the grumpy bartender has kept his past buried and his heart off-limits. But when a paranormal reality show sets its sights on the boutique hotel where he works, he gets roped into the productionโand partnered with the one woman who just might unravel him.
Charlotte โCharlieโ Fraser is the Duchess Hotelโs sunny front office manager, a hopeless romantic with a weakness for happy endings and broody bartenders. After months of pining for Knox, sheโs ready to actโeven if it means battling her inner scaredy-cat by helping him bring a ghost-hunting show to the hotel this Halloween.
As Knox and Charlie dig into the hotelโs chilling past, they find themselves irresistibly drawn to each other. Every lingering look, near kiss, and shared secret brings them closer to something real. But unless they can summon the courage to face their feelings head-on, their love doesnโt stand a ghost of a chance.

I was on the spotlight tour for this book last month and I shared some of my first impressions because I had been a little busy and didn’t manage to read the book in time. I have now managed to finish it and it worked out to be perfect timing because I read it on the run up to Halloween and what is better than a book featuring a ghost during the spooky season.
I donโt usually jump to the second book in a series, but I didnโt realise that this was one. The good thing is that you really donโt have to read the first book to read this one; it works as a standalone book.
This book was a lot of fun with a very entertaining premise. The staff of the Duchess hotel delves into its past to see if they can find any ghosts to try and secure the hotel’s place on an episode of a famous paranormal reality show. Of course, the two staff tasked with doing the digging are Charlie and Knox, who happen to be sweet on each other, even though neither of them has admitted it.
The characters definitely make this book; I loved that Charlie threw herself into the project, even though sheโs very out of her comfort zone, to get a bit closer to Knox. She is such a lovely character, at times taken advantage of because of how nice she is, but as the story progresses, she starts to show her strength and is passionate about supporting those close to her.
I was excited to see the burgeoning relationship between Knox and Charlie, especially as Knox is a bit of a closed book to start off with. He has a reputation for being a bit grumpy, but that seems to change whenever Charlie is involved, and I enjoyed seeing him open up to her as they get to know each other better.
This is the kind of book that I was happy to keep going back to because it was so enjoyable. It had a little bit of everything too, there was the romance with some sizzling chemistry, the story behind the ghost, which I found really interesting. The ghosts of Knoxโs past also added complications to the story, but allowed the characters to grow both individually and together.
Be Our Ghost is a delightful book, and I would definitely recommend it.
