Book Review | The Love Algorithm #20booksofsummer24

After a bit of a slump I am back reading and kicked it off with this fun romance.

The Love Algorithm
Camilla Isley

At 28, with a Ph.D under her belt and a meteoric rise to head of Research and Development at Mercer Robotics, Reese feels her decision to put her career first has worked out pretty well for her. Sure, she doesnโ€™t have many personal relationships to speak of, but she does love her team and they like her too.

So when sheโ€™s called to the Big Bossโ€™s office and told she will be looking after his son while he does a rotation in her lab, sheโ€™s not thrilled that her hard work and achievements have boiled down to being a glorified babysitter โ€“ especially to a billionaire playboy with zero experience of mechanical engineering.

But then tall, blond Thomas walks into her office, and Reese realizes this assignment is going to be even harder than she thought. Because the CEOโ€™s son is not only extraordinarily gorgeous, chiseled, and charmingโ€ฆ heโ€™s also on course to become her new boss one day, and so extraordinarily out of bounds. As the pair get to know each other, can Reese hold her nerve and her beliefs, or will she fall victim to the billionaire charm?

I always know I can delve into a Camilla Isley book for fun and entertainment and The Love Algorithm is no exception. This one is a quick and easy workplace romance which means it has a slight hint of forbidden romance, a lot of longing and of course a well-timed overseas conference in a romantic city, all the right ingredients for a fun read.

I loved that our main character Reese is super smart and driven, but also not afraid to show her personality in a pretty corporate place. I was so glad that Reese didnโ€™t have to lessen herself around Thomas, he isnโ€™t intimidated by her and is impressed by her brilliance.

The chemistry between them is apparent immediately, even if Reese is too stubborn to admit it, and it is a lot of fun watching them skirt around each other as they pretend to everyone, including themselves, that there is nothing between them. I liked that Thomas was eager to impress as soon as they met and that he was the one who showed his feelings first, it makes a nice change that he was second-guessing whether she might feel the same and what to do about it.

There is, of course, a little conflict along the way but it was nice that it was mostly work-based, and not because of other people coming between them. I also loved how these conflicts resolved themselves, we all need a Thomas is all Iโ€™m saying.

A special mention must also be made for K-2P, the sassy robot, who stole the show on many occasions.

I picked The Love Algorithm up not realising it is the third book in the True Love series and I donโ€™t feel like I had to know much about the other books to enjoy this one, but I am now planning on going back to the start and reading the other books too because I know theyโ€™ll be just as fun.
