Decided to try another Agatha Christie book as I had a fancy for another mystery book.

The Seven Dials Mystery
Agatha Christie
Narrated by Mia McKenna Bruce
A practical joke goes chillingly, murderously wrong in Queen of Mystery Agatha Christieโs classic detective story, The Seven Dials Mystery.
Gerry Wade had proved himself to be a champion sleeper, so the other houseguests decided to play a practical joke on him. Eight alarm clocks were set to go off, one after the other, starting at 6:30 a.m. But when morning arrived, one clock was missing and the prank then backfired, with tragic consequences.
For Jimmy Thesiger in particular, the words “Seven Dials” were to take on a new and chilling significance…

I wonโt lie; the reason I picked this one up is because of the recently released series adaptation. I am keen to watch it, but I always like, where possible, to read the book first. Since this one didnโt seem too long, and it was marvellously narrated by Mia McKenna Bruce, who is in the adaptation, I thought Iโd give it a shot.
This is only the second Christie book I have read, and I think that because my first book was so phenomenal, I had a certain standard in mind. This one didnโt quite match up to it.
I did wonder if itโs because I didnโt realise that there is a book that could be read before this, so Iโve maybe lost out on some character background. Donโt get me wrong, it was still very good, but it didnโt grab me from the beginning; it took a while for me to get into the swing of the story.
If Iโm honest, I feel like when Bundle entered the story, thatโs when it really started to come together for me. I think sheโs a brilliant character, does what she likes and isnโt afraid to get stuck in and put herself in dangerous situations to get answers. I loved how witty she is too, and her chats with her father were always humorous.
As for the mystery aspect that was definitely to the same standard, after a slower start to the story, suddenly there was so much going on. Every time I thought I knew the answers, I was surprised once again.
I love that I was kept guessing, and even the subtle clues that Superintendent Battle gave never actually helped me with any answers. There were so many twists and turns; it was brilliant.
