S is for…Stargazer Lillies

I will be very honest, I know there are white lilies and there are white stargazer lilies and I’m not entirely sure which type the lily in the photo is; I’m leaning toward stargazer because it has the pink speckles. Having said that I love lilies so that’s a moot point. I don’t know when I decided that lilies were my favourite flower; I just know that they are. Whilst some would say they are associated with funerals, symbolizing

that the soul of the departed has received restored innocence after death

others say that they are a sign of humanity and devotion. I like that there is either the pink stargazer which is vibrant and eye-catching, or there is the white that is muted and elegant, there may be more I’m no flower expert.

The lily in the photo is actually from a bouquet I received from another favourite…Scorpio, he bought me these as a surprise for my birthday last year. We went out for breakfast, after we had finished eating I went to the toilet and when I came back there was a very large bouquet of flowers on my seat. We had walked past a flower shop on our way to the cafe and he had gone to the toilet not too long after we were seated, phoned them to order the flowers and then ran down the street when I went to the toilet, to pick them up.

It was so very romantic and absolutely mortifying because there were a lot of females sat around us and they all aaww’ed and made comments on how lucky I was. I went lobster red. What really made me laugh though was that one of the ladies saw him walking back with the flowers and told me that she genuinely thought she had a handsome admirer, as she was sat behind me so hadn’t seen that he’d been sat there with his girlfriend for an hour, just that he was walking towards her with flowers.

As a little tease I am going to tell you that the stargazer lily also links in with my entry for T but you’ll have to wait and see…
