It was the first time they’d hosted their family since the move.
It had been a brilliant evening, the food, the wine, the conversation, a roaring success.
A little surprising as the mix of wine and family occasionally led to some disagreements.
When he suggested moving to a more comfortable setting he hadn’t meant with the TV turned on and everyone engrossed in their phones.
So much for quality time together.
Just as he opened his mouth to say something, he caught his husband’s eye and the slight shake of his head.
He would keep the peace for this evening.

Such a typical example of family get together now! Everybody on their phones, TV on somewhere too.

I know my mum had to specifically ban mobiles from the dinner table because it was getting ridiculous, and that’s with extended family too 🙂

It’s very sad to look around and see so many people so disengaged from each other…especially the parents who’re out to dinner with their kids. Great post:)
