Guest Post | ReelShort ~ Book to Series Adaptation

Something a little different with todays guest post, I’m featuring a company who are branching out into book adaptations.

In case you haven’t heard of ReelShort before, they are a mobile video streaming app specialising in short-form, vertical dramas,ย and they recently adapted a book that I very much enjoyed when I read it, Bound by Honor.

Bound by Honor by Cora Reilly, our first book-to-series adaptation: the show released in November, starring Rhett Wellington and Savannah Coffee, and quickly became one of our most-watched titles, reaching 282 million views. Following the release, the original novel was propelled back into Amazonโ€™s Top 100.

Reillyโ€™s bestselling mafia titles have sold nearly 900,000 copies, generated more than 800 million page reads in English, and been translated into 15 languages, earning her a devoted global fan base.

โ€œIโ€™m very excited to see how ReelShort visualized something thatโ€™s only lived in my head and the minds of my readers so far,โ€ said Reilly prior to release. โ€œI know itโ€™ll bring out all the emotions, and Iโ€™m here for it!โ€

Following the success of Bound by Honor, the cast will reunite for our second book adaptation with Reilly, Bound by Love, continuing this collaboration.

As The Hollywood Reporter predicted for 2026, ReelShort is entering a significant expansion phase, broadening our drama offerings, diversifying our genre slate, and growing our overall content footprint. This signals that micro-dramas are booming not only in scale, but also in creativity and long-term potential. The category has already evolved to include high-profile book adaptations, including Reillyโ€™s work and the Vicious set which both The Wall Street Journal and The Today Show will visit.

As part of this expansion, ReelShort is also moving into new genres, including high-concept sci-fi, action thrillers, and elevated fantasy, alongside titles such as American Sniper: The Last Round, our latest release and a hit and the Navy-themed drama Callsign: Legacy.

Well I’m definitely tempted into a re-read of this book, might even be tempted to check out this adaptation and see how it handles the story. Has anyone watched it already? Let me know your thoughts.
