about the book

Unravel

UNRAVEL YOU is the enthralling sequel to LOVE OVER LATTES and can be read as a standalone. It is also book one in the Cole Brothers series, a new family saga, binge reading experience: 5 brothers, 5 full-length novels in 5 months.

College graduate Valentina never expected to fall for the hot as hell and intimidating Derek Cole when she accepted his offer to rent his property.

From cottage to mansion, Valentina is certain she doesn’t deserve the fairytale unfolding. But Derek gets what he wants… and he wants her.

He’s “the one” for her, but before she says I do, she has to survive a month long trip to his family’s estate in Atlanta. Gaining approval from four brothers and an over-protective mother might just be her hardest test yet.

For billionaire Derek Cole, this homecoming is a chance to mend the damage he caused when he walked away from the family business.

Just when they think they have a handle on their happily ever after… their past and future collide.

my thoughts

I think I will start by saying that I hadn’t realised that there is another book before this, even though this is the first book in the Cole brothers series the story is a continuation from a previous story. Most things are explained well enough for the story relating to the two main characters of this story, Derek and Valentina, however there are some references of situations around Derek’s brothers that are really vague. It’s hard to tell if this is something that I would have known about if I had read the first book or if it is hinting for books to come. This is why I usually don’t start a series from anything other than book one because I do then have the constant wonder if I’ve missed something.

Despite that feeling of possibly missing some information, it was a nice easy-going story the kind you could happily while away an afternoon reading, in parts it was a little too predictable for my tastes but it was entertaining.

I feel like I didn’t really get to know Derek and Valentina all that well, the story went by very quickly and I only really got a surface sense of them, they had some sizzling scenes but I felt like the chemistry was lacking. Having said that I could really start to feel some of the chemistry being built between other characters in the story who I think are going to feature in future books (I feel like Anabelle and Wesley are two characters that I’ll be happy to watch out for), so it is possible that I would have had a better sense of Derek and Valentina’s relationship with the groundwork already in place.

Even though I did have that feeling of missing out on certain things, this was on its own a really light-hearted and fun read and it certainly kept me turning the pages, and I am looking forward to seeing what happens with some of the other characters that I met in this story in subsequent books.
