everywhere in August

It’s been a very busy month, with lots of exciting goings on. The book festival being a particular highlight, although my bank balance might not agree after I completely ignored my book buying ban.

Book Cover

Cocktails and Dreams

Sassy characters, wonderful story, handsome bartenders and cheeky cocktails.

I also had a guest post which is a sneaky look into some conflict in the book.

13 steps

13 Steps To Evil

A brilliant writing advice book about creating the perfect villian. This is one I would highly recommend for any writers out there.

treats

Treats

A witty and sharp short story collection with stories that really resonate with you.

roughing

Roughing

A second chance sports romance, which maybe needed a bit more tension but was entertaining.

fact of a body

The Fact Of A Body

My first book festival event, this true crime/memoir was at times a dificult read but in my opinion worth it.

37-hours

37 Hours

Part two in the Nadia Laksheva series this thrilling and pacey book, is one of my favourites of the year.

public

Public Library and Other Stories

A quirky collection of short stories interspersed with recollections of peoples experiences with libraries. My second festival event was to see Ali Smith, who I always enjoy.

collectiveebook

The Collective

Pirates, time travel and a secret society, some very good ingredients to make an entertaining read.

I also hosted an excerpt of the book if it sounds like your thing.

lie of the land

The Lie Of The Land

One of my last festival events was to see Amanda Craig talk about this book. It is a great book, looking at the nature of relationships and forgiveness, with dark humour and a bit of mystery thrown in too.

singles game

The Singles Game

An easy beach read, great for any tennis lovers out there.

law of attraction

The Law Of Attraction

A fabulous book about newbie lawyer Amanda battling it out against her nemesis from law school to get a job. Think a more in depth legally blonde.

I also hosted an extract from the start of the book, so you can see if it’s for you.

Books Gifted

So this should have gone in last month’s post but since I had been so busy I forgot, I was lucky to receive these wonderful books for my birthday, if anyone’s read them let me know what you thought.

—————————-memory man          diabolic

I have to say I am particularly excited to get to The Diabolic.

Books bought

Yes my bank balance took a  bit of a beating what with there being a bookshop at the Edinburgh Book Festival and my having no will power, these are the books that I splashed out on, anyone read any of these?
